Laclox ( Ampiclox) is used to treat the following infections: Upper and lower respiratory tract, Bone and joint, Skin and soft-tissue infections (e.g., boils), Endocarditis (inflammation of heart lining and valves), Impetigo (bacterial skin infection with pus-filled blisters). It is to be taken every 6hours for about 5 days.
Laclox Capsule is a combination of two penicillin antibiotics Ampicillin and Cloxacillin. It is used to treat the following infections: Upper and lower respiratory tract, Urinary tract, Middle ear, Gastrointestinal, Bone and joint, Skin and soft-tissue infections (e.g., boils), Endocarditis (inflammation of heart lining and valves), Impetigo (bacterial skin infection with pus-filled blisters). - Mechanism of Action:
- Ampicillin inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis.
- Cloxacillin targets the final stage of cell wall synthesis.
- Autolytic enzymes mediate cell lysis.
- Side Effects:
- Common: Stomach upsets, rash, nausea.
- Less common: Blood vessel inflammation, dark urine, diarrhea.
- Allergic reactions, anemia, and other rare effects.
- Precautions:
- Avoid if allergic to penicillin.
